What to anticipate from the next Marvel film

The Guardians of the Galaxy made their long-awaited comeback to television this year with the help of their very own holiday special and the one-two punch of Thor: Love and Thunder, which has beautifully prepared the audience for the main event.

It's fortunate that the long-awaited third - and ostensibly final - volume of the Guardians is now just a few months away from hitting theatres because while these appearances and extra treats are great, they are no match for an all-out Guardians adventure.

As the Guardians encounter yet another super-powerful cosmic creature, such as Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) and the High Evolutionary, expect lots of laughter, tears, and action (Chukwudi Iwuji).

Here is all the current facts you need to know about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

On Monday, November 8, 2021, director James Gunn tweeted a Polaroid snapshot of his actors reuniting after a lengthy absence, confirming that production on the sequel has begun.

He stated: "The weird, protracted, and even difficult trip that brought us here has only enhanced the joy of this present moment. The first day of filming brought me and my Guardians family back to the site."

The protracted post-production procedure might start after the shoot, which was completed in May 2022.

Gunn tweeted midway through production that "this is the last Guardians movie for most of us," so fans can absolutely enjoy seeing all their favourite actors back again.

That definitely seems to be the case given that Gunn has just accepted a top executive position at rival DC Studios and that Bautista has long been vocal about wanting to leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The following cast members have been officially announced for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3:

One important addition is the fan-favorite character Adam Warlock, a powerful creature made by the Sovereign to destroy their enemies and dubbed the "ideal" man. Will Poulter plays him.
Regé-Jean Page of Bridgerton and George MacKay of 1917, according to The Hollywood Reporter, were reportedly also considered for the part, but Poulter finally won it only a few weeks before production was scheduled to begin.

I'm incredibly honoured to have been accepted into the Guardians of the Galaxy family and to be a member of the Marvel Universe, Poulter said to RadioTimes.com shortly after receiving the role.

"The Guardians of the Galaxy series in particular is probably one of the most imaginative and unusual ones out there, so I believe that's what drew me," he continued.

"And I'm really appreciative to James Gunn for entrusting me with this highly respected and sought-after role," Poulter concluded. I only hope I deliver on my promise.

Additionally, San Diego Comic-Con 2022, where he unexpectedly showed up at the Marvel panel dressed as the High Evolutionary, confirmed actor Chukwudi Lwuji's addition to the cast as the High Evolutionary.

Previously, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, lwuji had hinted some information on his then-secret MCU involvement.

Powerful, he remarked. Extremely strong. Complex. He's undoubtedly one of the most complicated characters we've seen in the full Marvel world, if not the most complex, James and I were just discussing him.

Iwuji and Gunn have worked together on a comic book project twice, the first time being on the HBO Max spin-off of The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, where he portrayed the mercenary Clemson Murn.

James Gunn, the filmmaker, announced on Twitter that Chuk had "in fact" joined the cast. I wasn't happy with him after working with him on Peacemaker.

The sequel to the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films, Vol 3 will tell the continuing story of the intergalactic “A-Holes” who saved the galaxy from Ronan the Accuser and Ego in previous movies.

The film will likely deal with the fallout from Avengers: Endgame, specifically by revealing the fate of a time-displaced Gamora, who fled the team after the big crossover to do some serious soul-searching.

We also know that the story will involve popular comic book character Adam Warlock (teased in the previous movie), who is an extremely powerful cosmic being created by Elizabeth Debicki’s gold-skinned character, Ayesha.

While answering fan questions on Instagram, Gunn mentioned who his favourite characters to write were and hinted at which of them have the most interesting stories in Vol. 3.

"I probably liked writing Nebula and Rocket's arcs the most (which continue into Vol. 3)," he admitted. "But I also think we have great things coming up for the others, like Quill and Mantis. "All of their arcs take place over the three films as opposed to in only the individual movies."

Nebula actor Karen Gillan seemingly agrees that Nebula's arc ends on a strong note, revealing to Collider that she and co-star Pom Klementieff (Mantis) were in tears after their first read-through.

"We read it together and we both cried and laughed, but there was full tears," she said. "It’s incredible, I think it’s James’s strongest work yet with the Guardians and it’s just brilliant. It’s brilliant and it’s emotional and it’s funny and it’s all of those things that you want.”

In case that wasn't enough: the film is rumoured to delve into Rocket's traumatic origins.

Who will die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3?

Guardians 3 has long been anticipated to be the team's farewell film, with many fans predicting which heroes will live to see another day and who will meet a devastating end.

This last chapter will be "the last time audiences will see this squad of Guardians," writer-director James Gunn has said, while also stressing that he wouldn't be hesitant to kill off a few characters.

Gunn discussed Vol. 3 on the Hero Nation Podcast of Deadline. It's huge; it is really huge, gloomy, and different from what one could anticipate. I simply want to offer the audience the satisfying conclusion they deserve for the narrative while being faithful to the characters and the plot. That's
